Spring Cleaning Day 25: Drains
Today’s task wasn’t one I had initially intended to include as part of the months’ tasks, but after I had the rather unpleasant experience of discovering just how essential it was I added it in.
We have some of those tile drains where the drain is under a tile so it fits in with the streamlined look of the floor. I noticed our bathroom one wasn’t draining very well so I pulled it up to discover what was wrong. This is what I found…
As you can imagine, I was less that thrilled! From the surface the drain looked perfectly fine and I (wrongly) assumed that because clean water drains down it every day it would effectively clean itself. Uh, no.
So, today’s task is to give your drains a clean, and disinfect them. I was so grossed out by mine that I basically dowsed it in bathroom cleaner and scrubbed it to death. I then rinsed it with boiling water and added a few drops of tea tree oil to make it smell good.
The results were much more pleasing than what I had initially found when I lifted the drain!
