Neutral Scandinavian Kitchen Inspiration

March 22, 2017 By: Michelle2 Comments

Our kitchen is getting so close I can taste it! The house is total chaos with walls missing and holes in the floors but I am finally seeing an end in sight.

We’ve decided on kind of a rectangle with a gap shape (sort of like an L but with a bit extra) to give the best use of space. There will be low benches and a breakfast bench on two sides and the window on one side with the fridge and pantry hidden away at the end.

This is my rectangle with a gap design (or L with extra lol)

I’m also pretty much set on finishes. So far choices include:

  • Shadowline polyurethane cupboards in vivid white for all base cupboards plus the pantry end
  • Feature wall cupboards in a textured oak finish with open shelving at the ends (kind of like the design in the second image below)
  • Induction cooktop (we had this at our old house and I can never go back to gas)
  • Breakfast bar
  • Stone benches in a light grey with waterfall edge
  • Splash back will be white diamonds (like the image below)
  • Bamboo floors in a lightish “champagne” colour

I’m undecided on an under mount vs flush mount sink and whether we should go with integrated, semi integrated or a freestanding dishwasher.

?Kitchen colour palate inspiration! Pros and cons of @wk_quantumquartz vs @caesarstoneau Thinking a light grey colour (love the concrete look but not sure about the maintenance with 3 little boys making a mess!) #caesarstone #quantumquartz #kitcheninspiration #kitchendesign #renovations #scandinaviandesign #industrialkitchen #scandinaviankitchen

As you can see from the photos below, the house is kind of chaos at the moment. I have ZERO storage in the living or dining areas and very limited kitchen use. Everything has been relegated to tubs and bottles/cleaning stuff and the like are sadly living on the bench or window sill. Trying to breath and not let it stress me out.

These walls are still bear from when we had a huge water leak from a pipe above. We would have patched them straight back up but because a lot of the kitchen cabinets were damages we decided it was a good time to renovate the whole kitchen area (well as “good” as a time can be when you have a little baby!)

The open space near the stool will be the new entrance and there will be a breakfast bar behind it where you can see the random wood upright left behind.

If you’ve been following me on Instagram (fine me here) then you’ll have seen my kitchen inspiration posts. These are some of the things I’m loving.

These are the tiles we are going with and I love the open shelf at the end.

?Kitchen inspiration. Still trying to decide on the perfect wood tone for the top cabinets. So far we have chosen vivid white poly doors, grey bench and bamboo floors. These stools are just stunning and I really like the under bench microwave.

Loving this simple colour scheme in @alannasmitdesigns kitchen. I’m collecting ideas for our new kitchen and I love the mix of wood and white. #kitchendesign #kitcheninspiration #lovelovelove #woodandwhite #simple #minimal #timeless

It’s going so well Michelle! Can’t wait to see the reveal 🙂 I can already imagine how it looks based on the image inspirations you showed. How much does it cost you to make the renovation? If you don’t mind me aksing 🙂
