When I asked Mr 2 what sort of cake he wanted for his birthday party, his instant answer was “MINION CAKE”.
Given I like themes, it made sense to go all out and theme his party accordingly. Here is his Minion Party including some healthy minion themed food and his amazing Minion cake, if I do say so myself ;).
I’ve included some of my minion party ideas including minion inspired party food, minion party decorations (with free printables) and my easy DIY minion cake.
I didn’t want to spend a small fortune on a party so stuck to simple fruit, cupcakes and popcorn and the grandparents brought dips, veggie sticks and sandwiches to share. The kids had mini water bottles which I wrapped with minion labels and the grown ups had juice and soft drinks.
Total cost for food (excluding the cake) was under $50
Decorations were simple blue and yellow balloons and some mini popcorn boxes which I bought from Big W. Total cost was $5. I also found a heap of free themed printables on this site which I used for wrapping the water bottles. I was going to wrap the bananas too but ran out of time.
The incredible minion cake was made from a kit by Cake2theRescue which was gifted to me by the lovely baker Lou. If you are looking to make a special cake without being a cake maker or buying one for a small fortune then I would hight recommend Cake2theRescue. Lou has hundreds of different cakes and they come with EVERYTHING. Even a rolling pin and serving knife. They are incredibly easy and the instructions are super logical. I’m so happy with how my Minion cake turned out.
Mr 2 was pretty stoked with his cake. I managed to hide it from him so he didn’t see it until the party. Hde was very excited.
