When Maxi Cosi recently sent me their new Euro NXT to review with Mr 2, I was pretty interested to give it a run. It has a huge list of safety features and because I’m car seat safety obsessed, this appealed. Check out the Maxi Cosi Euro NXT Review by Mr 2 (and me) below!
I apologies in advance but I’m about to stand on my car seat safety soap box for a moment…
While I’m a huge advocate for buying second hand when having a baby and not getting drawn into all the hype around the newest and greatest baby products, the one area I was never willing to compromise on was car safety.
While all car seats sold in Australia need to meet safety standards, the reality is that not all car seats are equal. If you are going to splurge; skip the fancy pram or designer clothes and invest in a good quality, super safe car seat. You won’t regret it.
While I’m on the subject of car seat safety, I want to encourage you to keep your bub rear facing for as LONG AS POSSIBLE! Yes, you might be able to legally turn them at 6 months in some cases, but that doesn’t mean you necessarily should. Older kids are also much safer in a 5-point harness and it is ideal to keep them in one for as long as they will physically fit. I know it’s a hassle but it’s less trouble than spending time in hospital with a child with a broken neck.
Ok, so I’ll hop off my soap box now and share with you some of the features of the Maxi Cosi Euro NXT 😉
My favourite Maxi Cosi Euro NXT Features
Easy installation with Isofix
The Maxi Cosi Euro NXT is Australia’s first Isofix compatible car seat. No more fiddling with seatbelts and hoping you have it in right!
If you haven’t heard of Isofix before it is basically a simple and secure way of installing a car seat into Isofix compatible cars. It makes installing super easy as you basically just clip the base into the isofix points. Maxi Cosi has taken it one step further with Isofix Isogo that displays green marker when the seat is installed correctly.
It is totally idiot proof in terms of installation because it literally shows you with a green or red marker whether the seat is installed properly. This is particularly useful if you need to move your seats between cars and aren’t able to have them professionally installed each time.
Extended rear facing
See above for my rant on rear facing babies and toddlers for as long as possible! One of the awesome features of the Maxi Cosi Euro NXT is that it accommodates rear facing up to 30 months (depending on height)! Mr 2 (and 2 months) would easily still have fitted rear facing in it even though he outgrew the rear facing setting in his own seat about 4 months ago. Love it!
Quick fit harness system
Having to adjust the height settings of the car seat harness is one of the most annoying parts of car seat ownership. A properly adjusted harness is essential for safety but many people delay doing it because of the hassle of removing the seat and cover and reinstalling it.
The Maxi Cosi Euro NXT has a quick fit system that means you don’t need to remove the seat from the car to adjust it. Just pull up or down in one easy step to adjust it perfectly. This is great is you sometimes take different sizes children in the same care seat.
All the other Maxi Cosi Euro NXT Features
- Cool Baby‘ wicking fabric to draws moisture away from your baby’s skin and allowing air to flow in, keeping baby cool and comfortable.
- Air Protect™ Superior Side Impact Protection to shield your child’s head from side impact (and perfect for napping comfortably on).
- GCELL™ crash absorbing technology that provides a crumple zone for enhanced side full body protection.
- Machine washable covers.
- Seat protector with drink bottle holder.
- Adjustable recline base.
- Infant seat insert (for bringing home your teeny tiny newborn)
- Comfy padded harness.
Mr 2 is loving his Maxi Cosi Euro NXT. He particularly likes the padding and height of it and seems pretty comfy based on how quickly he falls off to sleep! So far he’s yet to trash the fabric with sticky fingers but I’m pleased that the cover is easily removed for when that day comes (which it will!)
I was gifted the Maxi Cosi Euro NXT carseat for review. Favourable coverage wasn’t guaranteed and all opinions are my own.
