Ikea Online Shopping is HERE!!

November 2, 2017 By: Michellecomment

It isn’t often that I’m excited about a marketing email that lands in my inbox, but today I’ll admit I may have done a little squeal when I opened my Ikea email. If you’re an Ikea Family member then chances are you too received a rather exciting email in the last 24 hours… You can now SHOP ONLINE at Ikea.

Oh yes it’s true! Ikea introduced online shopping for certain regional areas a while ago but now almost all states can shop online (including Sydney customers!) Sorry Victoria but your turn hasn’t come yet 🙁

If you opened your email to something like this this morning you may be doing a little happy dance…

It is true. Ikea online shopping is live and it is a very exciting day. While it’s certainly time to celebrate, there are a few catches. The prices appear to be the same online but the cost of delivery is a fairly hefty flat rate of $129 *eek*. Click and collect also attracts a pretty significant fee of $40.

Online shopping at Ikea will certainly offer convenience but it’s probably only cost effective if you’ve got some large purchases to make. For everyday items it’s probably still worth a trip to the store if you’re within an hour or so of one.

Hopefully in time Victorians will also be given access to the online Ikea store and maybe in the future the click and collect and delivery charges might come down in price. Time will tell how much people are willing to pay for the added convenience.

If you’ve already pulled out the credit card to get some online Ikea shopping done I’d love to hear how you found it and whether you’d use the service again!
