Each year our family loves to celebrate the countdown to Christmas Day with an activity advent calendar. Rather than going for the more traditional chocolate advent calendars we create special memories with daily activities to do as a family. This has become a bit of a tradition in our home and you can check out last years advent calendar here, and my 12 days of Christmas countdown here.
I really love the activity advents because not only does it avoid chocolate before breakfast (& let’s be honest, who needs kids eating chocolate before breakfast 20 days straight!) it also encourages family bonding and creates memories for years to come. The kids already have their favourite activities and hang out for when these finally are unveiled.

This year I’m using a little Kmart box calendar and filling it with these cute daily activity cards. You can download your very own FREE printable Activity Advent Calendar Cards here. To use the downloaded file simply print on regular white card and cut out each card. The last page has been left blank for you to add your own family traditions. Once you’ve cut the cards out you can number your favourite cards or simply place them all into a bowl and pull one out each day.
We also do a daily bible verse leading up to Christmas and I like to use the ones from Happy Home Fairy. You can click on the image below to go to her website and download the cards for free. I cut these out and pop them in with the advent cards and we read one before bed each night along with a section from our kids bible.
I hope you and your family enjoy these activity advent cards this Christmas season. I’d love to hear about how you and your family use the cards to celebrate the Christmas season. Enjoy creating memories!
