Remember when weekends were all about sleeping until 11am and doing little to nothing? At some point, I think it was shortly after my first child ;), weekends became more about washing, groceries and changing bed linen. Fun times!
Regardless of what you now spend your weekend doing (or what you wish you spent your weekend doing), there are a few things that you can do on the weekend to make your week run more smoothly.
Knowing ahead of time what meals you’ll be cooking for the week ahead really takes the stress out of dinner time. Plan for the week ahead by working out a meal plan and getting the shopping done. It will make like so much easier!
Bulk cook up and freeze at least one meal
A lot of preparation for lunches can be done over the weekend. Bake up some snacks,
Get ahead on the washing
Starting the week off with piles of washing still to do or put away sucks. Start the week fresh and try to get through all the washing. Fold as you take it off the line or out of the dryer and put it away straight away. Here are my hints on how not to drown in laundry.
Clear out your handbag and the kids bags
Unpack, sort and declutter your handbag and any kids bags (or get them to do it!) Repack them with everything you need for the week ahead so you are organised and ready to go.
Check your schedule
Run through the plans for the week. Is there anything you need to prepare in advance? You don’t want to realise on the day of the event that you are on playgroup craft or that you’ve got 8 people coming to dinner.
Take some time out to truly refresh
Actively set aside some time to do something that gives you energy and brings you joy. Have some fun, get out in the fresh air. Whatever it is, make it count. Don’t let the weekend just disappear.
