The weeks just seem to be getting crazier and crazier as Christmas approaches. I’m not sure about you, but I am feeling snowed under and much less organised than I would like. This weekend there are three simple tasks, leading us into the Christmas season and getting things under control. Good luck!!
Task 1: Clear out your make up & toiletries
When was the last time you went through your makeup bag or toiletries cupboard? Today, spend some time clearing out things that are out of date or past their best. While fluro blue eyeshadow was all the rage 20 years ago it is probably a safe bet that you can ditch it now.
In terms of makeup, these are the recommended times to bin stuff…
- Powders (pressed or loose): 3 years
- Liquid foundation: 1 year
- Mascara: 3-4 months (oops!)
- Lipstick: 1 year
Task 2: Sort the first aid kit
As with make up, medicines should be sorted regularly and any out of date ones disposed of safely. You may also be interested in ideas on what to put in a first aid kit here.
Task 3: Write a list of school holiday activities and holiday “to do” tasks
You may feel excited for the holidays right now, but chances are that after a few weeks you’ll be running low on ideas. Put together a list so when the kids start with “I’m bored” you’ve got some ideas up your sleeve. There are some suggestions here and here.
While you’re busy writing lists, now is a good time to work out a holiday “to do” list of things you haven’t gotten around to during the year that you could do over the holiday period. Perhaps the windows need cleaning, the tupperware could do with reorganising or you’ve got a bunch of un-filed paper work. Stick them on your to do list and work through them over the break.
I hope you have a wonderful, refreshing and productive weekend!
