Last week I shared some great free (or almost free) school holiday activities. Week two of the holidays is here and I have 5 more cheap school holiday activities to keep you going. I chatted with some of you on Facebook this week about whether you love or hate the school holidays and while the responses were mixed, most of you do love having the extra time with their kids. A key theme was beating boredom so I hope these will help!
1. Go for a bush walk
I remember fishing with my Dad when I was younger and it was such a fun, relaxed activity. I wouldn’t know what to do now if I actually caught a fish so I’d have to recruit my hubby or Dad for this one. The school holidays are a great chance for some 1:1 grandparent or dad time.
3.Find some new playgrounds
Check out your local councils website for listings of playgrounds in your area that you haven’t tried before. There are some truly amazing playgrounds around! The one in the picture above is the “rocket ship” playground off MacPherson Street in Warriewood, Sydney if you are nearby!
4.Have a movie day
Taking multiple kids to the movies is an expensive exercise but hiring out a few DVD’s, popping some popcorn, closing the blinds and settling in for a movie marathon can be a great inexpensive activity for a rainy day.
I love board games but my husband doesn’t share my enthusiasm! I am hoping that with the right encouragements I can turn my boys into board game addicts. I remember playing monopoly for days on end when I was a kid and while board games can be a source of arguments they can also be a great holiday activity for the whole family.
Enjoy the last few days of school holidays, I hope you’ve had some lovely family time xx
