Welcome to the final day of the 31 days to a more organised life challenge. We are getting organised one day at a time!
Have you made your bed? If not go and do that before you keep reading!
Today we are having a catch up day and I’ve included an overview of all the tasks we have done so far. You will be able to find all previous days here in the future and I am in the process of putting together an eBook with everything (plus more) in it.
Day 1: Intro & welcome
Day 2: Make your bed.
Such a simple task but it really does make such a difference to your mindset and the look of your room.
Day 3: Do the dishes every night
Start the day fresh with an empty sink and a clean bench.
Day 4: Tidy the lounge room before bed.
While it is ideal to try to keep your home tidy throughout the day, the reality for those with small children is that this is often not possible. Finish the day well by clearing the mess and starting with a tidy living space.
Day 5: Do the chuck it challenge.
On of my favourite decluttering techniques. You can read more about it here.
Day 6: Prepare for the day ahead.
Organisation is as much about planning as it is about implementation. The better prepared you are the easier it is to get on top of daily tasks and stay organised.
Day 7: Declutter the car.
Once your car is cleared of junk you might want to have a read of my article on great organisation ideas for the car for inspiration on how to keep it clean and tidy.
Day 8: Deal with the washing every morning.
It is easy to let the washing pile up and before long it is out of control. Take the time each morning to do a small washing task. Either put a load on, hang one out, fold, put away or iron.
Day 9: Clear out your vanity.
Sort, chuck, organise. Declutter your vanity!
Day 10: Never leave a room empty handed.
Keep on top of clutter by returning things to their home as you move around the house.
Day 11: Clear out your handbag.
Does your bag feel like it contains bricks? Is it like a mystery box digging around in there? Clear it out
Day 12: Speed clean every day.
By spending just 10 minutes a day speed cleaning you’ll be able to keep the bulk of the household cleaning under control.
Day 13: Meal plan.
Save time and money by meal planning.
Day 14: Bulk cook once a week.
Building up a stockpile of meals in the freezer ready to go for when you can’t be bothered cooking means you are less likely to grab take out.
Day 15: Speed clean the bathroom each night.
Would you love to know that your bathroom was always sparkling for any unexpected visitor? Introducing the 3 minute bathroom speed clean!
Day 16: Start a paper filing system.
Routinely sorting and filing paperwork makes it easier to stay organised and reduce piles of paperwork building up.
Day 17: Declutter your wardrobe.
Day 18: Dust and wipe while you watch TV.
Day 19: Deal with the floordrobe.
Clothing must never touch the ground again!
Day 20: Fold from the line.
It is a really simple habit that will help you keep on top of the washing. It doesn’t take any extra time and is just about changing the way you do things.
Day 21: Free printable routine charts.
If you haven’t already, download the FREE printable routine charts for morning and evening routines.
Day 22: Deal with “that” drawer.
Yep, I’m a mind reader, I know about that drawer. The one where everything gets dumped and nothing ever is found again?
Day 23: Clean as you cook.
Take the stress out of cleaning up after a meal and clean as you cook.
Day 24: Clear out the fridge.
No more gross containers filled with who knows what from who knows when.
Day 25: Organise your linen closet
Fresh, clean, crisp linen, all neatly stored. Ahhhhh… bliss!
Day 26: Do one monthly task a day
Keep on top of those “sometimes” tasks by doing a quick one each day. If you missed our printable it is here.
Day 27: Sort DVD’s and books
Did you still have videos hiding in your TV unit? It’s surprising how easily things build up. Regular decluttering keeps it under control.
Day 28: Clear out your medicine cabinet
Old medicines and a chaotic medicine cabinet can be very dangeous for your health. Keep it up to date and organised. Check out what to keep in your first aid kit here.
Day 29: Declutter kitchen appliances
How many did you manage to find to clear out? Did you make some extra cash?
Day 30: Be inspired!
Day 30 was all about celebrating your own successes and checking out what others had achieved.
Day 31: Recap (you’ve made it!)
You are here and you’ve done it! Well done xx
Don’t forget to wash the dishes, tidy the living room and prepare for the day ahead before bed plus deal with the washing in the morning (and if you still haven’t made the bed, go do it now!!)

Great tips! I love have an organised house but there are still a few black holes aromd the place including a small floorrobe! Lol!
Yep I think we all have things we fall down at. I have moments of complete order and then chaos. That’s just life with young kids!
I loved your series! We do quite a few of these already (make the bed every morning, clean the kitchen & lounge room each night, speed clean the bathroom each day, meal plan) But there is lots I’m still trying to keep on top of – especially the washing! But with 8 people in our house I’m not convinced this will ever be possible lol.
Thanks! I;m so glad you’ve enjoyed it 🙂
Great series full of awesome tips!
Thanks for contributing to The Sunday Brunch Magazine!
All the best,
Eliza & Bel.
Thanks Eliza 🙂
Great tips! Its all about just getting them done isnt it!
Totally! Always easier said than done though isn’t it 😉
Just found your lovely blog Michelle, my house is currently so far gone down a black hole of mess that I literally walk from room to room overwhelmed by how much I have to do!!! My house literally makes me anxious. Just talked to my husband and said I was reading your blog about cleaning and de cluttering instead of actually doing it. You really have some great tips that I hopefully put into action one day. Cheers Sarah
Haha, Sarah I know the feeling! Have you had a look at the eBook in my online shop called Clutter breeds chaos and tidy transforms? I think it would be a really great place for you to start and it talks a lot about the psychology behind mess and overcoming it. xx
