30 Day Declutter Challenge: Day 7

June 7, 2015 By: Michelle5 Comments

Welcome to Day Seven!

Today’s decluttering task is…VASES, CANDLES & PLATTERS

So many of us accumulate gorgeous vases and mountains of candles that never get used. I know we personally received more than 15 platters for our engagement party over 10 years ago!

Today is the day to be realistic about what needs to be kept. Consider how long those candles would take to use and keep just a few. Then USE THEM!

The same goes for vases and platters. If it isn’t practical and you don’t reach for it then it is likely time to give it up.

Remember it is OK to get rid of stuff that is new/unused or even expensive. Re-gift it, give it to charity, just don’t KEEP it!

Remember to think about these things when deciding if something should stay or go.

Do I use it?
Do I love it?
Does it serve a genuine purpose for a genuine need I have?
Am I keeping it “just in case”?

You can share your decluttering efforts on today’s post on the Facebook page or by tagging #AOL30daydeclutter on Instagram.

Thing is I do love it. I love having a collection of vases, platters, decorative items to create a mood for every occasion… But it’s also ruining my life. I just don’t know how to store it all.

      Hi Jo,
I guess it is a balance between available space and need. If you have plenty of space then it’s ok to keep all of these but if you really don’t have the space then it’s worth thinking about clearing some out.
You could keep them on display in glass fronted cabinets or stack them neatly in an easily accessible cupboard. There is no real easy way to store them unfortunately, it just comes down to space. 🙂
