Welcome to Day Six!
Today’s decluttering task is…TOYS
Ok, don’t panic!
I know this is one that many of you have been dreading. I’ve deliberately put it on the weekend so you’ve hopefully got a bit more time to work through it. If you don’t have kids or grandkids then you get the day to catch up!
Today’s task is to get rid of all the excess toys that stockpile in your home. Start by grabbing three big boxes, one for charity/giving away, one for rubbish and one for selling.
Go through and ask yourself…
- Is it broken?
- Does it get used?
- Does it promote the sort of play you want to encourage?
- Is it easy to store and use?
- Do you have multiples of this type of toy?
Don’t forget…
- Bath toys
- Outdoor toys
- Puzzles
- Craft supplies
Remember it is OK to get rid of stuff that is new/unused or even expensive. Re-gift it, give it to charity, just don’t KEEP it!
Remember to think about these things when deciding if something should stay or go.
Do I use it?
Do I love it?
Does it serve a genuine purpose for a genuine need I have?
Am I keeping it “just in case”?
Craft supplies?? That needs a day on it’s own! LOL
When you click to share on facebook ….day 6 does not come up …day 5 comes up instead……
Your local Toy Library would love to take your old toys – http://www.toylibraries.org.au/toylibrarysearch
Check with them as to what is suitable to donate.
Thanks Liz! Great advice.
Okay, I got stuck here but today is the day I prevail. Wish me luck and thanks for the great series!
