Welcome to Day 26!
Today’s decluttering task is…CD’s & DVD’s
About six months ago, we got to the point where we were really running out of storage in our home. In particular our TV unit and loungeroom were overflowing with DVD’s, CD’s and all the kids toys. One big thing we did was transfer all our music onto iTunes and totally cut back on our DVD collection.
The DVD’s we did keep were taken out of their cases and placed into sleeve wallets to reduce space. We went from having several square metres of DVD’s and CD’s to just a small box.
You really don’t need to keep all the cases or even the original CD’s if you have the music stored electronically. I know some of you are shouting at your computer right now because the idea of giving up your music collection is unthinkable. If you’ve got the space and it is super important for you then by all means keep it, if not, it’s time to clear it out!
Remember it is OK to get rid of stuff that is new/unused or even expensive. Re-gift it, give it to charity, just don’t KEEP it!
Remember to think about these things when deciding if something should stay or go.
Do I use it?
Do I love it?
Does it serve a genuine purpose for a genuine need I have?
Am I keeping it “just in case”?
