30 Day Declutter Challenge: Day 17

June 17, 2015 By: Michellecomment

Welcome to Day 17!

Today’s decluttering task is…PAPERWORK

Today’s task is going to be a big one for many. Most of us have collections of paperwork that we no longer need. Old bills, junk mail, random receipts and bits of paper. Today we are going to get rid of it, and if you are feeling brave maybe even start a proper filing system!

When considering whether to keep things, I generally follow these principles…

  • Bills are kept for a year (so I can review expenses and plan our budget)
  • Account statements are all online
  • Receipts are scanned and then thrown away (I take a photo and store them in an app on my phone)
  • Newspapers and random mail bits go to recycling daily

You can find my post on developing a simple filing system here.

You can share your decluttering efforts on today’s post on the Facebook page or by tagging #AOL30daydeclutter on Instagram.

Ready, Set, GO!
