Welcome to Day One!
Today we are starting with an easy challenge. As the month goes on you will likely become more ruthless in your decluttering but for now I want you to think about these things when deciding if something should stay or go.
Do I use it?
Do I love it?
Does it serve a genuine purpose for a genuine need I have?
Am I keeping it “just in case”?
Today’s decluttering task is… SHOES!
Yep, time to clear out the shoe pile. Some things to consider:
- Are they broken?
- Do you wear them?
- Are the comfortable?
- Do they go with enough clothes to make it worth keeping them?
If you’ve not worn them for a year then they can go.
Don’t forget the kids shoes, shoes in storage etc.
Any good pairs can go in a box at the front door for the charity shop, the others can find their way to the garbage.
Yay…a nice one to start with. Looking forward to more space.
Hope it went well Renee 🙂
I love my shoes”
Me too Doreen… only keep the ones you love AND wear!
I was wondering just yesterday about a pair. Now I know – out they go!
Good work.
Shoes! Great starting point! Have wanted to get rid of some for a while now! 9 pairs gone from mine, my husband’s & son’s wardrobes!! Some will go to charity, others to bin. Feeling great!
Hi Roz,
Good work! I wasn’t game enough to chuck hubbies… will have to make him do it on the weekend!
Thanks! Yes lucky with hubbies shoes these were outside and filthy /semi broken so out they go!
This is one area I am not too bad in (i’m not obsessed with shoes) but I will have a look through the kids pile and get my husband to look through his. I think he actually has more pairs than I do!!!
My hubby owns more shoes than me too Kirsty!
I only own 7 pairs. Everyday flats, sandals, thongs, sneakers, knee high winter boots, heels, and farm boots. I use them all.
I’ll let you off on this one then JO 😉
I did this one over the weekend so I am up to date lol xx
Got to love getting a head start!
Late to the challenge but fortunately both me, hubby and my son have already done this in the last month clearing out at least one if not 3 or 4 pairs of shoes that we’ve not worn in years, no longer or never fitted properly or are too worn.
Hi Robyn,
Good work. Always good to be ahead!
Hi, I signed up for the 30 day challenge and it said I was already subscribed but I am still not receiving the emails daily.
Hi Kristy,
I checked for you and you were on weekly emails. I’ve changed you over to daily so you should get them now. 🙂
I’m joining late to the challenge but better late than never! I no longer have a job than requires me to wear heels or dressy shoes. I’m out in the field now for sales calls. I don’t know how to decide what goes or what stays with my dressy shoes, they are all high end and in almost perfect condition…maybe a consignment shop.., but how do I decide on what best would be kept. 1 black, 1 neutral, 1 strappy??? I didn’t do very good with this one? 🙁 The only time I wear any of that is holidays and special occasions?
I know I’m starting this way too late, but beginning your 30 day challenge. Can’t wait! (Love your blog, by the way)! x
a little late on joining the challenge (only just discovered your site!). Perfect place to start, I had a bag full of shoes sitting in the corner of our bedroom from when we had our first baby and we turned the spare room/my closet into the nursery! she is now 2 years old!! Thank you so much, just what I needed!
You’re so welcome Kell 🙂
